My hand drawn illustrations for these playing cards are based on figures from Norse mythology. The hierarchy of the mythological characters determines the hierarchy of the card system: gods are Kings, goddesses are Queens, accompanying animal servants are Jacks, and Loki, the trickster god, serves as the Joker. The colors of the artwork differentiate the suits. The style of the linework is derived from Norse artwork, specifically Mammen style art.
